Driving my old faithful 900 turbo, I was cruising the lot looking for a spot around lunch time. I was in 2nd at idle, maybe 15mph. In fact much slower than most of the traffic blazing through the lot. I was creeping along and I saw a jeep whose reverse lights came on just as I was passing him (maybe my front wheel behind the middle of his bumper.

Well wouldn't you know it he backed out and hit my car at the gas door and then as I moved forward dented the rest of the quarter and shattered the tailight. In the aftermath 1/3 of his bumper cover was torn off as well.

I figured "I'll relax a second then get out" I played it cool, got his number and we parted ways. I got the light replaced but the dent remained after being pulled enough to make the light fit.
I called him up and said, here's what you owe and he said "what do you mean? I thought we were each going to pay for our own" I was not too happy and mentioned a few choice words. Later in the week his father called me up and basically stated "well he said it was your fault, you say it was his so there's no way I'm going to pay"

Word to the wise, pictures, witness report, admission of guilt written out, police report. Don't expect people to own up to their mistakes because more often than not people are jerks who will attempt to get out of paying the bill.
