here's my take on the exhaust Posted by Adam [Email] (#344) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Adam) on Fri, 29 Sep 2006 06:51:36 In Reply to: Anniv Edition Convert sighted, patm, Thu, 28 Sep 2006 16:19:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The new 9-3, and the S4 have dual exhaust because they both have V engines. Saab with a 6 and I think the Audi has a V8...? not really sure.
But, with the v shape, you have two exhaust manifolds, therefore, two cat's, and two complete systems.
On the I4's, you have the single manifold, single cat, therefore single system. I think it would be a waste to do dual exhaust, unless you split the manifold. Otherwise, you are adding unneccessary pipes when having two systems branch off one cat. So, for an inline 4 engine, I would think the 3" single is best.
for the V6 and V8, their best bet would be 3" on both sides!
