House Washing Blues - sick of Mildew stains>

I have a 2-story colonial cedar clapboard house near Boston painted yellow with solid (acrylic latex) stain. The last paint job has lasted six years so far. But the house is plagued on each side with mildew. I finally got sick of it and treated the front with chlorine bleach:water solution 1:3, which worked very well, (killing only the top of one yew which I forgot to rinse off). The other sides do not have so many windows so a very tall ladder would be required (32 feet at least). I am also a little squeamish about using chlorine bleach, since it is not good for the environment and is pretty harsh. So I bought a pressure-washer (2500 psi, 2.2 gpm) which can just reach the top of the house. I used ZEP house wash in it (an EDTA type house wash) but the mildew was not removed. I did a test and found the results were better if I scrubbed with a sponge or brush but the mildew in the siding was still not removed 100% and the idea of scrubbing my entire house by hand makes me want a gray house instead. The pressure washer instructions warn you could die if you use chlorine bleach in the thing, but elsewhere I have read that is what professionals do anyway. Any suggestions?
