I know if there is any good advice to be found on the http://www it is here. Something about the Saab! Two months ago I bought two paintings (total 700, 300 down) from an old artist friend. I have bought a few smaller pieces from her over the years in order to be encouraging and a good friend. I thought her recent work represented a breakthrough - also I really liked it. I let her hang onto the paintings I'd bought so she could exhibit them as part of her series. Now she informs me, unfortunately, she had no choice but to "give" the larger painting I'd bought to the gallery owner in order to secure the gallery space. The show was in Newfoundland and I live in Quebec. Still, I guess I should have been there. She sold all of the paintings - everything but the smaller of the two I'd bought. She is not apologetic - says she isn't going to die and will eventually make other paintings. Somehow I don't want her work on my walls anymore so I asked for my 300 back. She thought that was mean-spirited but says she'll mail me a cheque. I'm housebound, recovering from surgery, and maybe brooding a little to much about this thing which has cost me the illusion I had a friend. Should I spread the word about what she did or just forget it? Thanks for your thoughts.
