I take a different view from those already expressed. She defaulted on an agreement you and she had. She should have told the gallery owner that that painting was already sold. No matter how hard it is to make it as an artist, you can't default on a sale, especially when payment has already been received. I mean, what better way to fail, than to show you're not trustworthy?
I wouldn't tell anyone else what happened, but I wouldn't buy anything else from her. Would you buy another car from someone who did the same thing to you? Of course you wouldn't.
BTW - heart and soles. That's great. Must mean they're always out there beating the pavement to get their work noticed.
