I just retiled my foyer and the tile buts up against an engineered hardwood floor (about 1/4" gap). I simply grouted the joint since the wood can move the opposite way as well. It looks very good and I figured the grout is easy and essentially free so if it fails I can always remove the grout and cover it with a wood strip which would allow the wood to move. BTW tile will move a little too. This all assumes that they are at the same height. I have some other wood/tile joints where the floor levels are up to 3/8" difference. On those I used a wood strip that I made with a table saw and sander.
