I'm from central VA and when I travel down there it seems as if everyone is too nice on the road! It freaks me out now after living in MA for 8 years...and 2 years before that in NYC.
I feel like the agressor down there....after a few days I settle back into that pace though.
The one thing that really just confuses me to this day about drivers up here is that almost everyone is perfectly willing to come to a dead stop from say 35-45 mph to let someone jaywalk....the other thing is how people will also come to a dead stop from above said speeds to let someone make a turn across the oncoming lane of traffic....just think nothing of it. I can't tell you how many times I've almost rear ended someone doing something like this....I'm a pretty alert driver but nothing can prepare you for the guy in front of you coming to that dead stop for the above gestures!
Just don't try and pass that same guy on the highway...he'll speed up and never let you in!
Just makes no sense.
Todd
