Skid car class - fun and educational! Posted by Caarl [Email] (#447) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarl) on Sun, 7 Jan 2007 15:12:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
For a Christmas present I bought me, wife & teenagers a car control course. Half hour or so in the classroom on the basics of traction and defensive driving, then 3 hours or so taking turns in a skid car (3 students per car).
I highly recommend doing this. It's invaluable for the less experienced drivers. But for me, after almost 40 years driving I have seen just about every traction condition that mother nature can throw at you, and just about every idiotic thing other drivers can try to do to you. Still, I learned enough to make it worth my money and I'll probably take it again sometime just for more practice. Having a professional driver giving feedback as you're trying to recover from a skid is so much better than just figuring it out on your own.
Most of us are not as good drivers as we think we are (although Saab drivers are of course much, much better than average). Don't be too proud to let a professional give you some tips.
