For me a luxury car is simple American automotive hype. Hype that has become very blurred as just about everything made has the features that used to only come in luxury cars.
I think the biggest common denominator of a luxury car sold in America is standard leather interior. In Europe the luxury brands like BMW, MBZ and Saab are sold without leather and other luxury touches at a very competitive price with the lessor brands.
