The near current (2002ish) civics just aren't what they used to be. I used to spend alot of time in a 1994 ex coupe with a 5sp. It had the Vtec engine and double wishbone front suspension. This was a seriously high-quality, well made car; interior fit and finish was incredible. The car also was seriously a ton of fun to drive, it was pretty quick, very revvy, sat low, and cornered like it was on rails. Now days I find myself spending alot of time in a 2002 ex coupe. Its the same car even down to color, but 8 years newer and with an auto. Because of the transmission difference, I can't comment on power, the engine certainly isn't as revvy. It is not nearly the same car and isn't at all fun to drive. It is a much, much larger car. The interior is of much lower quality, it doesn't feel as solid and the fit and finish isn't nearly as nice. It sits much taller than the 1994, and doesn't ride or corner nearly as well - infact it drives like crap; I'm sure this is all due to the Macpherson strut suspension.
I wouldn't buy one, it isn't of the same quality.
