Corn based ethanol is a scam Posted by Landjet [Email] (#16) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Landjet) on Thu, 18 Jan 2007 21:29:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
"From an agricultural vantage point, the automotive demand for fuel is insatiable. The grain it takes to fill a 25-gallon tank with ethanol just once will feed one person for a whole year. Converting the entire U.S. grain harvest to ethanol would satisfy only 16 percent of U.S. auto fuel needs."
When you consider that there are people starving in the world, this is an interesting point. You could count the people you can save by not using fuel in your car....shattering.......
Too bad they have 54 cent per gallon tariff on importing ethanol -- guess they don't want Cuba, Haiti, or the Dominican Republic to export any moonshine to us..........except the stuff that they can really tax to the max.
How about the 40+ cent a gallon subsidy to the ethanol producers up to 10 million gallons -- what a waste of taxpayer dollars.
Just reporting the written facts -- maybe someone can correct the numbers to close the gap on the calculations for the negative energy content in corn based ethanol.
Remember when farmers were individuals? It is for the most part corporations now -- wonder if the corporations are partly owned by the petroleum companies. Well, the mineral rights are under the surface, so why not own the surface too? The farming of corn is fossil fuel intensive, so why would any of the petroleum guys squirm about ethanol -- they LOVE it!
I know ranchers who are writing into their property descriptions that they can keep the rights to erect wind generators even after they sell their land to the oil companies. Now those are the guys that have the most brains of all.
Please prove me wrong...............
