I have a friend in Arizona that comes to San Diego on the weekends. He has gotten into purchasing 900's, bringing them to me to repair issues, and then reselling them. I think he averages about $500 profit on the deal so he is happy with that.
One of the cars he purchased had a bad fuel pump. The owner sold it to him before we discussed the issues. The owner had been Quoted $500 labor because the fuel tank needed to be drained before they could *remove the tank* to get to the fuel pump. If my buddy had told me beforehand I would have directed him to inform the current owner to go elsewhere.
So, I did the fuel tank drain and removed the tank for half ($250) and *then* charged him for the fuel pump itself.
Actually I just removed the cover over the tank in the trunk and removed the pump and replaced the cartridge in it. He was with me when I did this and showed him that the PO had been screwed at the shops expense of being either crooked or incompetent...
