have your eBay ID in the email. This is the very first thing you should check.
Even if the email is directed to your eBay ID, examine the actual URL of any links you want to click on.
A link title may say something related to eBay but the *actual* link URL need not be. You can mouse over the link (i.e. put your mouse over the link WITHOUT clicking on the link) you should be able to see the actual link in the browser status bar (make sure the browser status bar is turned on). The actual URL may say something different than a standard eBay destination, i.e. something like xxxxeBay.com but may resemble something with "eBay" and other extra strings to it. Some links have a foreign country domain, e.g. .de, .ke, .it etc., and those are dead giveaways for phishing. Some links in the email may be legit, i.e. pointing back to eBay's disclosure or security links.
Phishing pages have become extremely hard to discern so be very careful.
Do you still have the email ? If so, send it to eBay. eBay has a special email address just for people reporting fake sites or phishing emails.
