and try. HP is not going to tell you that the higher capacity drive would work as they don't have one to sell you in their catalog but call them anyway and see what they suggest. If appears that the 7K200 series are new so you may have to wait a bit before they hit the mass market.

As long as it's the same physical size and uses the same interface SATA(??).

The only thing left is the power requirement as it is a laptop. Chances are that the power needed for the drive is not much different across the range. Check with Hitachi's site.

Do you store video clips or movies in your laptop ? The problem with HP laptop is that their backup partition takes up a lot of space, so even if it's a 80G drive, you end up having only 60G or so.
