OBDII CAN enabled code scanner options Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Fri, 25 May 2007 21:29:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hey everyone,
Just looking for some advice on what kind of OBDII code scanner to purchase. I need one with the CAN technology for the 9-3SS's. Eeuro has a nice one for 170ish, It's the Innova 3100 and it looks quite nice. It seems like the feature of having the code definitions programed into the unit would be helpful and time consuming because I wouldn't have to use my laptop and look up codes in WIS.
One option I was looking at was something I found on ebay. It's ebay item number 260121036764 It's a software for your computer that you install and then use via a supplied USB cable that connects to the OBD port of the vehicle. It is also CAN enabled. Has anyone ever used a setup like this? It seems like this would be a more interesting route to go because of the ability to monitor individual parameters in the system and individual sensors, it also has the freeze frame viewing capability of the Tech 2 just without the programing capabilities. It all seems interesting, but just looking for some advice from anyone that has had experience with it.
Thanks for your time
-Chad
