should specify American Arbitration Association or another major group for abrbitrator selection. You will require elsewhere in the contract that the K'or be insured and provide a certificate for the job, and if he torches your house, the insurance company will step right in. I reviewed one of these recently for a relative (I'm not a real estate and construction specialist) and found other objectionable things, like "hold harmless" language that might void an insurance policy. Standard printed contractor agreements are often stacked heavily against the consumer. The lawyer might charge you more than it's worth to you, but if not, go for that. And be sure to stagger the payments so that enough is held back to make a difference. Too much front money might get you a contractor who does another job or jobs first, once they have your money.
