Spent our honeymoon driving the Maine coast. We stayed a night on Monheagen(sp?) Island. I think the mail/work boat left from Bar Harbor but can't remember. That's how you get there. It's a little odd; artists, writers, birders ect. No cars. Very beautiful with walking trails all over the Island. If you look close, there are many little gnome communities in the woods at the bases of trees and other interesting places. We took a bottle of Champagne to the east side of the Island and sat on a bluff overlooking the rocks and ocean. Check it out.
We also had a very nice night at the Perch Island Yacht Club in East Boothbay. It's not really a yacht club but the then-owners always wanted their own yacht club so they started one. Great evening; hung out in the kitchen while they made dinner. Good chatting.
