I have managed construction projects all over the world. In the mid-east the operative term is "Insh Allah" or God willing. You'll probably be fine using a table to support your ladder...Insh Allah. But do remember the higher up the ladder you climb the ratio of downward to lateral force changes. So the higher you go, the more prone the base of the ladder becomes to sliding....a classic physics/calculus problem. And my table tops are all smooth...so go rent an appropriate ladder!
