I've seen 2 or 3 9-5's in Shanghai over the last few years. Since 2003 I've spent a total of 3 or 4 months around China working. On work place was the Jin Bei factory. Does that look like an old Toyota minivan? Guess where the tooling came from?
At my office I have a Chinese Newspaper SAAB ad, and a Saab model range car mag insert from HK.
My worst was staying just across the street from my office in Shenyang ("small" city of 8M or so). There were bike "lanes" and car "lanes". It is best described as fast-paced real-world Frogger! It's scary standing in the middle of the road waiting for the next gap with traffic coming at you.
How about the cab rides? Did your drivers all shift gears at about 1300 RPM's? It was frustrating to be going 30mph in 5th gear hearing the motor shudder all the time. One time in my stays there did I get the Chinese Mario Andretti taxi driver.
