While the oil was changed a week or so ago, there was clearly oil in the engine for at least a while. But I wonder if the drain plug was tightened correctly.
If it wasn't, it would vibrate loose and the oil would come out real fast and you'd have catastrophic failure like you describe. You'd have gotten a warning from the dash lights, etc, but with sudden oil loss it would be too little too late. This would put the dealer who changed the oil on the hook for the repair. Which they will fight tooth and nail.
The other possibility would be the filter blew because it wasn't tight enough, but this is less likely IMHO.
Go quietly to the dealer and look under the car. Is the drain plug still on the oil pan? If not, you have the answer. Of course (my cynical side, here) the dealer may identified this problem when they looked at the car. In which case they could well have replaced the drain plug. So if you have a shiny new drain plug in there it's at least something to think about.
