OT: Renovating a Tub & Shower Combo.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 9 Oct 2007 10:59:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife and I were in Raleigh NC this past weekend looking for homes as part of a possible job change and relocation. One home in particular we both liked very much. Most of the changes we would make after purchase involve paint colors and wall paper only, except for the Master Bath.
This home has a tub and shower combination unit, possibly a whirlpool tub. I am embarrased to say I didn't check for namee brand of the unit as it might make my quesiton unnecessary but..... The tub/shower unit has gold fixtures. Gold deck mount tub spout and valves, gold metal edged glass door to shower, gold metal edged glass panel between tub and shower, and gold metal corner post supporting the shower door. Gold is not our color of choice.
Can these pieces be replaced with identical pieces of say, pewter toned metal, without removing the entire unit? The house was built around 1999 I believe. Faucet replacement is simple. Replacing the visible drain componenets is trickier but do-able. What concerns me is the shower stall framework. I strongly suspect the tub/shower unit is either a Kohler or Jacuzzi, but I failed to look for name plates.
Thanks for any experience or advice.
