A couple of things -
First, that's just wrong. The car is not a base 85 Turbo, it's an SPG. Not the same thing. That would belike using the value of a non-Turbo to total a Turbo.
Second, after you get them to value the car properly, even if they do total it you can probably work a deal to keep the car and use the check for the repairs. You may even get to keep the car at no cost to you.
We had a '90 totalled, and got an extremely fair settlement from the other driver's insurance company. Their first offer was way more than I expected, and we got to keep the car too. In that case I sold the car as rebuildable and put all the money in a NG900, but could just as easily used the funds to fix the car.
This may work out for you. But they HAVE to properly evaluate the car (ie correct model) first. Don't agree to anything less.
