Google gas tankless water heater, and you will see lots along with description of units and installation. Possible to do yourself, in fact kind of hard to find installers in Ohio because the plumbers don't know much about them and are wary of the install.
There is also considerable discussion about whether they are appropriate for most people. There is a lag until the hot water gets from the heater to the tap. And if you are constantly shutting the water off and on, lots of lags... The best use may be showers, and you could take them all day.
There are different sizes of tankless depending on how much water you need. Current shower nozzles are 2.5gal/min, and if you are still using a 9gal/min, will pay to replace with new. Any gas tankless should keep up with 2.5g/m. Washing machine, dishwasher, and two showers at the same time are going to be a challenge.... The charts will show you what they can do.
