The value of domain names varies widely.
You should first determine what the value is to your business. How well known is your business under that name.
For starters what will it cost you to send several notifications (mail and email) to all of your clients AND vendors.
Next, what are the costs associated with changing stationary and business cards, phone listings (yellow pages).
Plan on legal research to ensure that the new name you'd like to use isn't already spoken for. A Google search is just the beginning. And, you may have various filings required and necessary to ensure that someone doesn't come along and inadvertently use your new name.
Depending upon the magnitude of what you're dealing with it may be best to engage an attorney with experience in this area. You may need something stronger than your Saab BB friends...and we really do wish you well.
