Guess that's his opinion, but we have a 2001 9-3SE and a 2004 9-3 Aero convertible. The 2004 is excellent in the snow, as good as if not better than the 2001, and I currently only put all seasons on for winter (I'm in the Boston area, so we do see snow). I also think the 2004 is a much better driver than the 2001. For me, the only thing the 2001 has over the 2004 is storage, but that's not even fair considering the 2004 is a convertible! Also, I can tell the time in my 2004, but not in the 2001 (SID issues...!). I have also had no major issues with the 2004, just a few minor things. You can check my posts on the 9-3SS board to see what issues I've had. Oh, and the 2001 has had a failure on the road (DIC failure).
