Ethanol gasoline blends in older cars

This weekend is time to take the Triumph TR6 and MGB GT out of storage for the driving season (yesterday we got 6" of snow but it will be melted by tomorrow).
During this loooong winter I have been wondering about using
ethanol/gasoline blends (10%/90%) in the TR6 and MGB, instead of non-blend gasoline.
The engine in my TR6 runs at 9.5 compression and carburetors, the MGB 9.0 compression.
What are the Pro's and Con's of the ethanol blend (94 octane) on the
engine, carbs (including seals, floats and various metal and non-metal
parts), etc. and performance.
The ethanol blend could also generate extensive ecological,
environmental, agricultural, political, social etc discussions but today I
am most interested in the 'Mechanical' discussion.
