Good saw does the job well. Don't remember what I paid.
DeWalt's are great but are pricey, as they are pro-grade equipment. But in consumer hands they will last forever. Ditto for the other pro-grade stuff. It IS a lot better and can take a beating. Just depends on what you need.
If mine died, I'd pay the extra and get the one with the slider so I could cut a wider board--like a 2x12. But those models aren't all created equal, so look carefully. Those are also more dangerous--they are basically a small radial arm saw and you pull the blade toward you. That has cost people some fingers.
But get a power mitre: you and your wife will both be happy.
