OT: Power Mitre Box Recommendations Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 27 Apr 2008 15:02:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My wife is convinced I need a power mitre box to assist with an immediate home improvement project. I have a 25 year old top-of-the-line Stanley mitre box w/ a 24-inch back saw, but she is pushing hard for me to upgrade. I thnk her motive is three-fold: 1) doesn't want to listen to me complaining when manually sawing all the mitre joints; 2) wants the project to be completed faster and with greater enthusiasm; and 3) this becomes an early Father's Day & B-day present for me.
Anyway, I went looking at them today and am now looking for suggestions.
- My table saw uses a 10-inch blade, so I am leaning towards a 10-inch mitre saw too. Good idea or bad?
- How usefull is the laser sight? Some saws have them, some don't, some (DeWalt) can be added later.
- Some saws can be pulled forward to cut wider boards. Looks to be a worthy addition. Good idea or bad?
- I want to keep this under $200 as this is for ocassional handy-man use only.
Thanks for all input.
