I think their Moose test was reasonably accurate, because they used "average" cars, and you can't get much more "average" than a Frod Taurus/Mercury Sable...
They weren't out to prove that there was a car that could sustain the hit, they were out to prove the myth that speeding up would "save" you, if confronted with a moose on the road.
I fully enjoy the fact that I drive a car that I can reasonably expect to walk away from should I hit a moose with it. But I recognize that 95% of the population (probably more...) does not...
BTW - the best "defense" for Moose are really, really, REALLY good driving lights...
