I sincerely hope for two things: 1) they are able to economically feasibly locate the plant in Michigan and help an economic revival in the midwest and 2) the car is not so dumbed down that it's a piece of crap like the Fox was 20 years ago. I'm thinking Passat size with 2.0 4-cylinder and 2.5 5-cylinder naturally aspirated engines, no AWD and a minimum of gadgets... maybe vinyl seats w/cloth inserts, a/c and automatic transmission being the only significant options... It's hard to know if VW has gone too far upmarket with their mainstream models to return to their roots with an economy model, but I'd love if they could.
