Changing Oxygen Sensor for Fuel Economy - worthwhile? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Tue, 3 Jun 2008 15:03:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Now that we have $5/gal gas (two blocks from my house near Chicago), I must face the fact that I have never changed the Oxygen Sensor on my 1994 9000 CS Turbo (one sensor) with 165,000 miles. I have never gotten a Check Engine Light, the sparkplugs look fine, and the heater circuit must be intact. My gas mileage has decreased a bit since I installed an Aero ECU, which tends to attract my right foot (LOL!).
Bosch recommends changing the oxygen sensor at 60,000 mile intervals - but they are in the sensor business. Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is a worthwhile economy move based on fact?
