How can a new batter cause my laptop to overheat? Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Sun, 15 Jun 2008 19:07:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just bought a new aftermarket battery for my Gateway laptop. Gateway sells BTI batteries as replacements for older laptops, so I went on Amazon and bought what was advertised a BTI battery. The battery I received doesn't say BTI anywhere like the picture did (has some Asian writing instead), but I figured I'd try it.
Now I noticed that when this battery is in, the CPU temp goes up to about 140 degrees and the fan kicks on. This never seemed to happen with my old, dying battery. What's up with this? Should I contact Amazon and try to get another battery?
