I buy/sell on Ebay and feel the feedback needs to be as transparent as possible. The feedback system is what got Ebay where it is now, and any holes in the system that may cast doubts will make me think twice when buying any expensive items. In that sense, I don't think you did anything wrong by leaving neutral feedback w/ explanation, and the way the seller refunded money without clear communication w/ you sounds like pressing the issue by the seller. You expressed your buying experience based on your standard about the system, and it must be respected by the seller. Good sellers should act responsibly and take it the way it is unless the explanation was untrue. Trying to make the feedback rating look like a perfect score by the seller is just as much problem as buyers simply relying on numbers. I am not so thrilled about Ebay's recent policy change taking away from the sellers one important option of involvement in the purchase. I hope ebay can mediate problems due to buyers effectively and efficiently, but the current system gives too much advantage to newby looking crooks out there. It'd be interesting to see how ebay handles all those expensive buyer frauds.
