I'm not sure GM necesarily appreciates the technology. Things like turbocharging are great, and Saab is the leader in it for production cars, but it is not breakthrough technology anymore. It is also relatively expensive. I would hope GM could take out what technology they need and apply it in other makes, whether they keep Saab alive or not.

The kicker (and possible advantage for Saab) is that GM desperately needs economical cars that are safe, comfortable and practical. Right now, based on carlines across all GM brands, that really only leaves them with Saab, Saturn and a couple of Chevys and Pontiacs. Seems like a lot of platform and badge engineering is likely to take place. Followed by a lot of marketing to get people to consider Saab as an option.

I think price will matter, too. To keep Saab and make it profitable (by selling lots more of them) GM could decontent models (cloth seats, fewer features) and sell them for less. Also I could see them rebadging some Saturns (Opels) as Saabs to offer a lower end model line, perhaps with NA engines.
