I don't think you can buy a Tesla yet.... They have running prototypes that they show off to car magazines and the press, but I haven't yet seen an "independent" test of the car. Meaning where the car is loaned to a major automotive magazine for their own driving and analysis. All articles have a Tesla factory rep either driving or in the passenger seat - but maybe I am mistaken.
I have troble believing all the Tesla claims. I have no doubt that individually the performance and mileage calims can be achieved, but I believe they are somewhat mutually exclusive. You can probably achieve 0-60 in 5 seconds from an electric vehicle, but if you do, you will not get 100+ miles from the battery pack.
Just my cynical nature. Why can Tesla do it when GM, Toyoto, Honda, and all the others cannnot?
