Changing a caliper isn't a big deal, but you will need to bleed the brakes afterwards, and that takes either buying or borrowing a break bleeder.
But a badly dragging caliper will also show up not only as a really hot wheel, but that heat will eventually warp the rotor. That will show up as vibration under braking.
Does the sound stop when you press on the brake pedal? If so, it could be a lot simpler issue. When you press the pedal, it pushes the brake pad against the rotor - braking. When you take your foot off the brake, the pads don't spring back. Instead, small imperfections in the rotor push the pad back just a little. So there is always a little rubbing.
The rubbing sound you hear is just the pad vibrating. Three things come to mind. One would be the anti-rattle spring - if that has come off, the pad can, well, rattle. It won't actually rattle, but it would make a rubbing sound.
Two, it could be the pad vibrating. For that, you can put anti-squeal compound on the back of the pad. This is available at most autoparts stores. Take out the pads, apply the goop to the back of the pad, let it dry, and re-install. The goop damps out the vibration.
Last, it could be the leading edge of the pad rubbing on the rotor. A sharp leading edge can catch, causing a rubbing sound. Again, pull off the pads, and with a file, just round the leading edge of the pads.
I wouldn't replace the caliper unless you know it to be bad.
