The reason I said caliper is because I just had to have a front caliper replaced and the symptoms were exactly the same as yours leading up to it. I then parked the car for a month (was in Europe) and when I came back, the caliper was almost completely stuck and needed replacement immediately. But up until that point, there was a noise from about 5-15 mph with no brake application, then it went away above those speeds or if I pushed the brake pedal.
Ari is pretty much right 100% of the time, though, so definitely try his suggestions before spending the money on a caliper job.
