plenty of Saab-heads today have them. There are half a dozen in my little town, all very nicely kept and owned by people who've had Saabs for years or who always wanted a Saab 'vert. So there is maybe some kind of nostalgic thingy going on.
With regard to the old models in the ads, remember that in the mid-'80s Saabs were one of the high-demand yuppie cars. As in waiting lists. Bob Sinclair was running the company and the C900 was acquiring almost a cult following. There is something to be said from a marketing POV to try to revive that, especially among the folks who bought Saabs back then, in part because they were different than Bimmers and Japanese appliances. So playing to that audience is not a bad thing.
OTOH, it also recalls those older models to people who didn't like them. So it's a balance. But since Saab will never be a mainstream make I don't see how this hurts. Saab needs advertising to wake up the brand again and I don't see this type of campaign as hurting.
