Another q about storage: this time, jack stands Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Sat, 20 Sep 2008 08:22:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Last time I asked about putting oil in the cylinders...for a 5-6 month period during the winter, most of you said this if probably overkill and not necessary. (2001 9-3)
I've browsed the net and now read that jack stands for a prolonged period of time is bad?? it can apparently bend the frame at a slow rate. So then, do I even need to do this? It's basically sitting in the garage covered for 5-6 months. The book says ideally the car should be on "blocks" or if not, inflate tires to 43 psi (for flatspots). Okay, so what do you think? In trying to do "good" things for the car, I may end up hurting it in the long run. The car is put up on blocks to save the suspension...but I'd much rather fix the suspension than to have issues with the frame!
Thanks, Bender
