Basically, you remove the old HD and connect the new HD, set the option plug for Master and do a full load, then download all of the MS updates from microsoft.com. Once the new HD is running smoothly, you can set the option plug of the old HD as Secondary and reconnect it. From then on, when you boot the system the new HD will be used and all of your existing data files will be accessable on the old drive.
Most new hard drives come with cloning software, but I don't use it because all of the junk that was slowing your PC down will be copied to the new HD... Ron
