Here in NH, we got our CPO '03 9-5 at a dealer. While I don't have physical printouts of the service history, I was shown it on the dealer's computer. That was also the selling dealer of the car when it was new, and it was serviced there, which made it easier. As for hard copies of the work, I probably could have gotten it, but didn't ask, as it was just oil changes and a minor warranty item.
OTOH, 5 years ago I bought my '96 9K used from a Saab repair and sales shop in NJ. The car had been serviced there for 5 years by the previous owner (a long-time Saab guy who was compulsive about maintenance), whom I had talked and emailed with. While that told me pretty much what had been done on the car, NJ privacy laws prohibited me from getting the service records fro the shop.
All you can do is ask. The worst they can do is say no. But maybe you can see it on a computer and write down anything important.
