Don't forget that an open bow boat can take a wave over the bow and ruin your day. I see lots of bass boats running on Lake Erie and have seen a few towed in - upside down because they either a wave over the bow, or one over the stern when they were anchored. I once bought a 24' deep vee I/O boat from a buddy for $3000, then another $1000 for a trailer, $1000 for some canvas, etc. But it was fun until I outgrew it. If you get an I/O, get one with a standard motor like a 4.3 GM motor that you can buy parts for at Autozone, and not a Mercury Marine engine that you have to buy parts from a marina. I had a 27' Sea Ray with twin Mercruiser 485s. These were aluminum 4-cylinger 185-hp engines. The alternators were located behind the damper on the front of each engine, if that gives you and idea on their complexity... Ron
