The most common user of diesel generators in my experience is the pleasure boat sector. Lots and lots of express cruisers in the 40' and up range run diesel engines and have diesel generators. Lots of those boats get totaled in hurricanes every year. I'd think there would be a market for used equipment coming off these boats?
Westerbeke, Onan, Northern Lights are the popular brands that I remember. On my last express cruiser - we had a gas kohler 7.3kw generator that had over 3,000 hours on it when we sold the boat. It was running great. These marine generators are designed for VERY high hours and duty cycles.
