Huh - what? Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Wed, 24 Dec 2008 21:00:15 In Reply to: My SAAB Viggen is garbage!....My options?, Bill, Wed, 24 Dec 2008 19:34:48 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It's not clear - did you buy it new and the engine and tranny were bad, or did you buy it with a bad engine and tranny? And as turrbo notes, what is wrong?
This isn't intended to be a flame, but general statements with no details are not good for credibility.
The Viggen was a pretty brutal car, and folks didn't buy it to putter down to church on Sundays. It's probably been driven hard. If the previous owner(s) didn't take care of it, even the best car in the world can be trashed. So if you bought it broken, don't blame Saab - blame the yahoos who owned the car before you and trashed it. And if you bought it broken, you bear some responsibility to have it checked before you buy.
As others have noted, maintenance and repair doesn't fall under insurance. Now, if you hit a wall, that's different. And possibly insurance fraud. Three grand in repairs implies a blown head gasket and a clutch. A bad driver can blow a clutch in any car in 5K of bad driving, and a blown head gasket smacks of poor maintenance. Just guessing, based on zero information.
Any car can get broken. If you bought it broken, unless you bought it with a gun to your head, you probably won't get a lot of sympathy. In terms of options, either fix it or sell it. Or ask the government for a bailout, but for car companies, not so much.
