I can't speak about the Integra, but last year I upgraded a 20 year old NAD 2 channel amp to the NAD 775 A/V receiver. I think the only thing it has over the 765 is perhaps some more power and HDMI inputs. I auditioned the 775 since I had been so happy with the old NAD amp and wanted to move up to an A/V receiver. I think it sounds fantastic, very much like what you describe...natural and not shrill or brassy. The other big advantage that NAD provides (at least in the 775 and I think also the 765) is their own customization of the Audyssey equalization curve which lets you optimize the equalization to the particular audio dynamics of your room. The unequalized sound is great, but using the Audyssey equalization makes it sound fantastic.
NAD has always focussed more on sound quality for the buck rather than a lot of bells and whistles (sort of reminds me of Saab).
