The car that got Audi into trouble was the mid to late 1980s Audi 5000. In the rest of the world, Audi sold 80s and 100s; for the US market, they multiplied these numbers by 50 (number of states or because we like big numbers?) to get the the 4000 and 5000 models - these got dropped after the Unintended Acceleration episode. FYI, my neighbor pulled the same unintended acceleration stunt with an Olds Cutlass, took out the garage door across the alley and both cars parked inside.
