I think you have to ask the question, "Who is harmed by the weird behavior?"
If the answer is, "Well, no one, but it's weird," then I would just not worry about it.
My missus and I own three cars between the two of us. With a great deal, it could turn into four. We have to plan ahead to make sure none of our vehicles suffer from misuse. I have more fly-fishing gear than I can reasonably expect to use in a season. And I have a handsome collection of 50+ briars/cobs/meers, though I only smoke maybe two or three times a week.
As the Clancy Brothers said, "Them that don't like me can leave me alone."
Actually, I've found that you can solve many problems by ignoring them.
