That was nearly my experience too.
I had multiple complaints of a loud popping sound problem during turns. All that I got back was a "unable to duplicate" after each visit and they tightened some bolts to spec. Then three days after my warranty expires (note: appointment set a week prior to warranty ending), they find broken welds not due to any damage. They were just inferior spot welds that popped. Also found out about the crank case ventilation latest fix since mine had revision 1 & 2 done under warranty, then undone under warranty per prior service notices and still drank oil and they also wouldn't cover it. 3 months of bickering, and the only thing offered was Saab USA offering to pay for half of the failed weld repair. So I was offered $400 for $1300 worth of warranty work with prior RO's going back years and three days outside warranty.. I had to just eat the mount fix and not do the crankcase.

I think a lot of it has to do with the specific dealership and whether or not they'll go to bat for you with Saab USA. Mine didn't, so I got them involved then waited a couple months for a decision. My dealership fought me tooth and nail about whether they would of even been covered under the warranty; once it expired, they claimed they couldn't do anything for me.

Not the first time I butted heads with the dealership too. They broke my windshield once; hot windshield + cold water in the wash = full crack across the windshield. They only offered to pay my deductible. I carry a $0 deductible, so they gave me & offered me nothing. I think they should of at least thrown a detail my way.

And yes, the treatment of the service department did come into play when I sold the Viggen and bought a new car... I won't be dealing with Saab service anywhere in the near future.
