or doing other mechanical work. Some are intimidated, others just don't know what's involved, others are inept, like the Ph.D oceanographer who's motorcycle I used to fix occasionally because he barely knew which end of the wrench to use.
Still others think doing any type of manual labor, or stuff that requires both head knowledge and manual skill is beneath them. These types are often quick to complain about the high prices a tradesman may charge.
There's stuff I will pay someone to do because they are gonna be faster and do the job better, or if it's something I really don't like to do (or simpy can't) but that's different.
