My mother has been driving a minivan for 20 years now and we finally have her convinced she's just as safe in a smaller car and doesn't need the empty bus behind her for her ride to work. So... 2006 VW Jetta 2.0Tfsi DSG with 33k miles, Package 2 and Luxury package (genuine leather, Xenons, etc) WITH a Certified Pre-Loved warranty. The VW dealer is asking $15,900. This is a RARE combination on the Jetta, in a nice "spice red" color. She likes the car a lot and would be very happy driving it (sorry, I can't get her interested in a Saab). Long story short the dealer threw in four new Continental tires, and is going to refinish the rims, with a final price of $15,286. She went in there with $15,ooo even on her mind, and stuck to it. She left because they refused to go to $15k. What the $#%&!!!??? I gave her the riot act that she's going to let this car go over 286 freaking dollars and told her she's being reckless. Of course, they told her others have been interested in the car. She thinks they're BSing her. I believe them (I think it's a great deal). She thinks they're going to call in the morning and give in. I do not. How hard should I work to get her to give in and give them a deposit, or do you think it's worth waiting? She's not going to find another car she likes for a long time... TIA.
